McCormick wins two events at Far Western Swim Championships

Evan McCormick won the 50- and 100-yard breast stroke races at the 2012 Far Western Swimming Championships held last weekend in Morgan Hill. McCormick, a 10-year-old fourth grader at Lakeview Elementary School in El Dorado Hills, won the 9-10-year-old 100 breast stroke in 1 minute, 14.11 seconds, the tenth-best time in the nation this season, while his winning time in the 50 breast stroke of 34.42 is 15th fastest. McCormick was the second-highest point scorer in the 9-10 division, as he also took second in the 200 individual medley (2:24.13), 50 backstroke (31.81) and 100 individual medley (1:07.39) and third in the 100 backstroke (1:07.63) and sixth in the 50 butterfly (30.71).
