High school football season openers are six days away for Granite Bay and Woodcreek, seven days away for Valley Christian and 13 days away for Oakmont and Roseville. That means scrimmages are going on now. Granite Bay held its “Meet the Grizzlies” scrimmages for all three teams Thursday night, and Roseville’s other four schools will be in action this weekend and next before the games count. The schedule: Oakmont will hold its Blue & White scrimmage Saturday with freshmen at 6 p.m., junior varsity at 7 and varsity at 8. Roseville was scheduled to hold its Black and Orange scrimmage Friday. Next week, the freshmen will be at Rio Linda at 7 p.m. Thursday, and the JV and varsity will be at Vacaville at 7 p.m. Aug. 28. Valley Christian will scrimmage West Campus and Cristo Rey at 3 p.m. today at West Campus. Woodcreek will scrimmage Folsom at 9 a.m. today.
