Oak Ridge High’s varsity girls’ tennis team finished the Delta River League season with a piece of the league championship. The Lady Trojans defeated Ponderosa 7-2 on Thursday to finish the league season with a 9-1 record, tied for first with St. Francis, who they play Monday at Broadstone Racquet Club to determine who the top-seed from the league is in the Division I playoffs. "The No. 1 seed gets a bye in the first round and plays at home until the section finals," Oak Ridge coach Ralph Clark said. "The No. 2 seed plays the first round at home and then is away throughout the rest of the playoffs. This probably means traveling to Lodi and Stockton. Monday's match will have as much, if not more, intensity than some of the playoff matches." Oak Ridge lost the first two singles matches against the Bruins, but won the rest of the matches. Miranda Miller and Gabby Zeagler earned 6-2, 6-0 and 6-2, 6-1 victories, respectively, at No. 3 and No. 4 singles. Megan Miller won 7-6, 7-6 at No. 5 singles, while Emily Abraham earned a 7-5, 6-3 win at No. 6 singles. Lauren Roppolo and Heather Dunham posted a 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 1 doubles, while Sydney Newman and Ashlee Gonzales won 6-1, 6-0 at No. 2. Megan Engle and Camille Martin picked up the win at No. 3, 6-3, 6-3.
