Oak Ridge High's girls basketball team is heading to Stockton for the semifinals of the Division II section playoffs. The second-seeded Lady Trojans crushed seventh-seeded Sierra on Thursday, 75-35, and will face the Granite Bay/Fairfield winner on Wednesday at the University of Pacific. Sara James scored 30 points to lead the way in a game that was never close except in the early moments of the first quarter. Oak Ridge held the Timberwolves to four points in the first quarter and led 19-4 after eight minutes of play. We came out really nice and our intensity was great, Oak Ridge coach Steve White said. We took it to them in the first quarter. This time of year we need everyone to play well and we got that. We moved the ball very well and shared it. It helps when we knock down our shots and we were able to do that. Sierra couldn't handle Oak Ridge's full-court pressure, as turnovers led to baskets for the Lady Trojans. Oak Ridge led by as many as 23 points in the second quarter and by halftime was up 32-13. The Timberwolves scored the opening bucket of the third quarter, but Oak Ridge reeled off nine straight points to go up 41-15 and essentially put the game away. James scored five of those points, while Jillian Spink, who finished with seven, scored the other four points during the run.
