Oak Ridge High’s girls’ tennis team showed their potential Tuesday with an impressive 9-0 win over Rio Americano, a perennial playoff team. The Lady Trojans dominated the Raiders, winning seven of the nine matches in straight sets. Tori Trylovich and Julia Dunnigan, playing at No. 1 and 2, respectively, won 6-2, 6-2 and 6-2, 6-3. Julia Lund and Lauren Roppolo at No. 3 and 4, had an even easier time with their opponents, winning 6-1, 6-2 and 6-2, 6-1, respectively. Rachel Librach split her first two sets, winning 6-4 and losing 1-6, before winning the tiebreaker 10-4 at No. 5. Teja Chalacherla breezed to a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 6 singles. “Tori and the ‘Julia’s’ built on their singles play from last year with solid wins,” Oak Ridge coach Ralph Clark said. “Lauren and Rachel made the move from doubles last year and showed they belonged up in the singles rotation. Teja played very maturely for a freshman in the last singles spot.” In doubles action, Alexis Hill and Hannah Crookham won 6-2, 6-2 at No. 1, while Gabby Zeagler and Tia Nguyen earned a 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 3. Miranda Miller and Meghan Schoener worked hard to win in three sets at No. 2, 6-2, 5-7, 6-1. “Freshman Hannah Crookham joined with seasoned doubles veteran Alexa Hill for an easy win,” Clark said. “Sophomore Miranda Miller and freshman Megan Schoener held down the No. 2 doubles spot well and veterans Gabby Zeagler and Tia Nguyen had an easy go of it.” Rounding out the Oak Ridge roster are Haesoo Kim, Sydney Newman, Megan Eaves, Camille Martin, Kami Lally, Madi Miller, Sammy Newman and Jessica Williams. “We got off to a slow start with a disappointing scrimmage with Del Oro,” Clark said. “We showed some spunk with a 5-4 win in our scrimmage against Rocklin and then got a glimpse of our potential against Rio. We have a nice mix of three freshmen and a new sophomore to go along with our returning players.”
