KVIE show looks at high school football injuries
KVIE Public Television on Tuesday will show “Frontline: Football High,” the story of two high school football players who collapsed from heatstroke during practices last year.
The show will air at 9 p.m. on Channel 6.
Both boys played in Arkansas and were hospitalized in Little Rock, in the same intensive care unit, according to a news release. Both suffered damaged organs. One boy lived; the other died three months later.
“Frontline” learned there was an athletic trainer on staff at only one of the schools, and its investigation found there is a certified medical professional at games and practices at just 15 percent of the schools in the state, the news release said.
