Kosinski wins Division I West Regional Championships

Alex Kosinski, a 2007 graduate of Oak Ridge High, won the NCAA Cross Country Division 1 West Regional at Stanford University on Nov. 15. Running for the University of Oregon, Kosinski finished the 6,000-meter race held at the Stanford golf course in a time of 19 minutes, 59 seconds. Kosinski and her teammates placed second behind the University of Washington. Kosinski, a sophomore, will compete at the NCAA Division I Cross Country Championships on Monday at the La Vern Gibson Championship Course in Terre Haute, Indiana. Kosinski placed 13th at last year’s Division I championships and helped her team place second. Former teammate and fellow 2007 Oak Ridge graduate Ashley Silva also ran in the West Regional and placed 161st in 23:12. Silva now runs for UNLV. Josh Ruff, yet another 2007 Oak Ridge graduate, ran for Long Beach State at the West Regional and placed 83rd, covering the 10,000-meter course in 31:36. Danielle Domenichelli, a 2005 graduate of Oak Ridge and current senior at UC Santa Barbara, placed 66th at the West Regional with a time of 21:37. She had recently won the Big West Conference Championship race, but suffered an injury was running at less than 100 percent at the regional meet.
