Jaida Dreyer to perform at Toby Keith's bar in FolsomBy: Don Chaddock, Telegraph Managing Editor
Canadian-born country crooner and actor Jaida Dreyer is no stranger to the limelight. She started showing horses and ice skating, taking a World Championship title at just 5 years old in the horse arena. Now 22, she’s worked on a major motion picture as well as a series for ABC, but music is her passion. Dreyer, who now calls Nashville her home, has a newly released single — “Confessions” — getting airtime on country stations and is available in iTunes. The singer/songwriter is scheduled to perform at 8 p.m. Sept. 20 at Toby Keith’s I Love This Bar & Grill in Folsom. Tickets are $10 each. “I used to live in California, but I never went to Folsom,” she said in a phone interview with the Telegraph. “I’m looking forward to it.” Whether she gets a chance to play tourist just depends on her schedule. “It depends on how much time we have,” she said. “It’s cool (to be performing in Folsom). I owned the Johnny Cash record, ‘Live at Folsom Prison.’” She said country music pioneers like Cash and June Carter have helped influence and shape her own music style. “I’m a huge fan (of Johnny and June),” she said. Expect a show lasting about 75 minutes with lots of country music. “If you like country music, you’ll definitely like the show,” she said. “It’s a good time.” The advice she offers aspiring musicians is to be true to their dreams. “Put in the time, be persistent and stay human,” Dreyer said. Dreyer records under the Streamsound Records label, founded by Grammy Award winning producer Byron Gallimore. Learn more at countrybarfolsom.com.
