Eighteen goals was more than enough offense for Oak Ridge High’s girls’ lacrosse team to defeat Granite Bay on April 22, 18-10. Danielle Trapani and Kaleigh Durket both scored four goals, while backup goalkeeper Courtney McKay made 10 saves, as Oak Ridge improved to 11-3 on the season. The Lady Trojans only led 7-4 at halftime, but broke the game open with 11 goals in the second half. Joining Trapani and Durket in scoring goals were Cassie Aroyan, Kristina Reyes and Ally Kirby, who all scored twice. Ashley Shaeffer, Allie Vaughn, Lauren Holbrook and Blair Nalewaja each scored once. On April 19 the Lady Trojans lost to Dublin, 9-4. While the Lady Trojans lost by five goals, the game wasn’t all that bad. Oak Ridge faced Dublin on March 8 and lost by a larger margin, 12-1. “We fell behind from the start and were never able to get closer than three goals,” Oak Ridge coach Ed Holton said. Cassie Aroyan scored two goals for the Lady Trojans, while Trapani and Nalewaja also scored. Oak Ridge’s next game is May 1 at St. Francis.
