Four Oak Ridge wrestlers earn gold medals

Oak Ridge High’s wrestling team kicked off the 2010-11 season at the Freedom Duals Tournament in Oakley. The Trojans won three of five dual meets and ended up placing second in the silver division. Oak Ridge picked up wins over Los Altos, Clayton Valley and Tracy, while falling to Antioch and Foothill. Four Oak Ridge wrestlers went undefeated on the day with five wins. Trey Reese at 125 pounds, Keaton Subjeck at 152 and Vinny Waldhauser at 171 won all of their matches by pins, while Alex Diaz, wrestling at 160 pounds, also finished the day with a perfect 5-0 record. Eric Rohrer won four of his five matches at 215 pounds, while Taylor Ellerman won three matches at 140. Cameron Miller (130), Anthony Gomez (145) Preston Dean (189) and Xavier Lopez (Hwt.) had multiple wins on the day, while Corbitt Ralston (135) and Sherman McVay (145) also won matches in their first varsity tournament. Twenty-one schools competed in the tournament.
