A special Boy Scouts of America Eagle Court of Honor will be held for four Oak Ridge seniors at 7 p.m. on Saturday, May 29, at the LDS Church building on Green Valley Road. Eagle Scout Rank recipients are from Troop 728: Robby DeMaso, Dalin Van Overbeek, Jamison Weeks, and Forrest Wilkins. Each boy was responsible for selecting and getting approved an Eagle Project that would benefit the community. DeMaso collected items for Sacramento’s Loaves and Fishes. Volunteers from troop 728 and the community collected and sorted items preparatory to being distributed during Christmastime. Van Overbeek managed the removal of dilapidated benches and installed new benches for Marble Valley School. Materials for the project were donated by Dusty Creek Lumber. Impact Photographics provided shop time and woodworking tools. Weeks replaced benches outside the Green Valley building for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. His project crew completely disassembled the benches, repainted the metal brackets and replaced the hardware and wood. Wilkins created a new bluebird habitat trail. Nesting sites for native bluebirds in the area have been taken over by more aggressive non-native species. By providing bluebird housing with exact size entry holes, bluebirds now have a safe place to live. 15 birdhouses were built.
