Folsom Lake College golf team takes second, slips to second in Big 8 standings
By: Staff ReportThe Folsom Lake College men’s golf team was not able to enjoy the view from the top for long; their two-day reign as Big 8 Conference leaders ended with Santa Rosa winning yesterday’s tournament at Diablo Grande.
The Falcons shot a respectable team score of 377 to place second, but it was no match for Santa Rosa’s 367. Sophomore Tom Crowther led the Falcons with a round of 72 (just one stroke off the lead), followed by Joel Slak at 73.
“We really didn’t play poorly at all; Santa Rosa was just lights out today,” said Coach Barry Zarecky. “You’ve just got to tip your hat to them, because they really earned it today.”
FLC had five players shoot in the 70s, and the one who didn’t – Dylan Neal – shot one-under on the back nine (after a horrendous front nine). The Falcons now trail Santa Rosa by one point in the Big 8 standings.
