Folsom Lake College’s men’s golf wins Big 8 Tourney, ARC knocks off Falcon tennis teamBy: Staff Report
The Folsom Lake College men’s golf team has been picking up momentum lately and that trend continued yesterday at Big 8 Conference Tournament No. 3, held at Teal Bend Golf Club.
The Falcons led all teams with a score of 372, eight shots better than runner-up Santa Rosa. Also of note, the Falcons managed to keep all six players in the 70s.
Sophomore Joel Slak continued his hot streak with a three-stroke win by shooting 70. Freshman Dylan Neal turned in the second-lowest score of the day with his 73.
“I’m so pleased with our number five and six golfers,” said Folsom coach Barry Zarecky. “They’re the reason we’re able to win these matches.”
Last year the Falcons had solid play from one through four, but would invariably lose the lead when the fifth and sixth scores came in.
“Everybody is able to contribute, and it makes a huge difference in the way they approach the game.”
The Falcons now find themselves in first place in the Big 8 after three (of 12) tournaments.
