After Folsom won the Academic Decathlon district and county competitions in February, they are now ready for the state finals. “We are very proud (of the win), and we are now on to state,” said Melinda Wilson, Folsom High School German teacher and Academic Decathlon coach for 14 years. The State Competition consists of 62 schools from all over the state. Folsom will compete March 12-15 at Sacramento Hyatt Regency, 1209 L St., Sacramento. There will be multiple-choice tests, essay, speeches and interviews at Sacramento State University, 6000 J St., Sacramento, and the Super Quiz with an Awards Ceremony at the Memorial Auditorium, 1515 J St., Sacramento. The public is invited to the Super Quiz from 4:45 to 7:45 p.m. on Sunday, March 14 and the Awards Ceremony from 9 a.m. to noon on Monday, March 15. Tickets cost $7. “We will be competing in Division 2 and hope, fingers crossed, to take first,” said Wilson.
