Feeling pinched? Try these regional options to celebrate St. Patrick's DayBy: Penne Usher, Telegraph Correspondent
Those interested in celebrating the wearing ‘o the green have plenty of choices in El Dorado Hills and Folsom this year.
Mark your calendar for Sunday, March 17, and plan to get your Irish on at one of several pubs.
The new pub 36 Handles, in El Dorado Hills, will celebrate their first St.Patrick’s Day with a kick-off party Friday, March 15.
There will be Irish-themed music throughout the weekend and on St Patrick’s Day, the restaurant and pub will open at 6 a.m., said Lynn Repstad, marketing representative for 36 Handles.
“We will expand the pub to a tented outdoor area, featuring outside bars and a buffet featuring Irish favorites,” she said. “For $10 a plate, customers can enjoy corned beef and cabbage, shepherd’s pie and other Irish fare.”
The family friendly event will be from noon to 3 p.m. with a kid’s corner. Enjoy face painting, cotton candy and other activities.
The restaurant and pub, 36 Handles, is located at 1010 White Rock Rd. in El Dorado Hills.
In Folsom, Churchill Arms Pub, located at 649 E. Bidwell St. in Folsom, there will have plenty to keep customers happy with a parking lot beer truck offering draft beers, a full bar and a food buffet inside the restaurant that opens at 9 a.m.
“We will have corned beef or shepherd’s pie, roasted potatoes, salad and dinner roll for a nominal price,” said Jaclyn Brewer, general manager for the pub. “We will have giveaways throughout the day with trinkets and prizes”
The main event may be on Sunday, but the fun will go on throughout the weekend.
Over at Fat Rabbit Public House at 825 Sutter St., also in Folsom, there will be the traditional offerings of corned beef and cabbage along with a few surprise items on the menu, said Connor Boyet, manager.
“Our beer garden patio will be ready and that will be a highlight,” he said. “There will also be Guinness promotions. We are really trying to keep it a traditional Irish St. Patty’s Day.”
