As spring rain showers hit Mother’s Day weekend, the Art and Wine Affaire continued to thrive in Town Center. Many locals and visitors hit the streets of the El Dorado Hills Town Center on Saturday and Sunday to enjoy more than 200 artists and 20 El Dorado County wineries. “I came out here for the arts and the people. It’s just a lot of fun,” said Jean Francone, with Madrona Vineyards. “The people working this are absolutely helpful and a pleasure to work with.” The weekend included art vendors, wine tasting and live entertainment. One local family brought out-of-state family members to enjoy the local El Dorado County wine tastings. “We heard about it, so decided to come out,” said Christy Sonnenburg, of Cameron Park. “We have family from Wyoming in town who are wine connoisseurs, so we wanted to come out for the wine.” The event works to attract traffic into The El Dorado Hills Town Center retail marketplace and raise funds for local programs in the region with the help of the El Dorado Hills Optimist Club, El Dorado Hills Chamber of Commerce and the El Dorado Arts Council. “We have done this for four years now,” said Mike Wofford, co-owner of Wofford Acres Vineyards. “It’s a nice place to be on a nice sunny day, and we like to be out here on Mother’s Day weekend.” Laura Newell can be reached at lauran@gold countrymedia.com.
