Youth volleyball camp: This camp is designed to teach boys and girls grades five through eight the fundamentals of volleyball. Participants ranging from beginners to advanced levels will begin with the basics and progressively work up to more challenging strategies and techniques to strengthen their game knowledge and skills. The instructor, Lisa Boyle, has more than 20 years experience and is director of one of the Northern California’s largest and most respected clubs in Northern California. Cost for the camp is $75 per child and meets Monday through Thursday, June 21-24 from 9-11 a.m. at the Brooks Elementary School gym. Space is limited so don’t delay. Call 933-6624 to register before the deadline of June 11. Girls Volleyball League: New to the El Dorado Hills Community Services District is a girls’ volleyball league. Girls in grades five through eight will form two separate divisions (5/6 and 7/8) and compete for eight weeks in round-robin games. Teams of 10 girls will compete six against six and play on Tuesday evenings at the El Dorado Hills Community Services District gym from June 29 through Aug. 17. Pee Wee T-Ball: Children ages 3-6 participate in this four-week camp from April 29 – May 20 on Thursday afternoons at Promontory Community Park (small softball field). This camp teaches the basic concepts of the sport by demonstrating the correct method of throwing, catching and hitting. Parents can pick from three different times beginning at 4 p.m. for 3 years olds (parent participation required for this age group) or 5 and 6 p.m. for 4-6 year olds with the fee of $60 per child. Pee Wee Soccer: The camp focus is on the fundamentals of soccer in teaching the children how to kick, trap, pass, play goalie, and be part of a team. Running from June 3 to June 24 on Thursdays, (Promontory Community Park Softball Field) participants will have the chance to score their first goal and build their self esteem during the camp with fun-filled drills and exercises. Camp fee is $60, which includes a camp T-shirt. Pick from 4 p.m. (3 year olds only – parent participation required) or 5 and 6 p.m. for 4-6 year olds. Dodgeball: Growing in popularity, this fast-action sport works on hand-eye coordination, speed, agility and having fun. Children ages 7-12 are divided into teams and play multiple games throughout this camp on Friday evenings at the CSD gym (7-7:50 p.m.) for four weeks from June 18 to July 9. Youth Basketball Camp: New this year is our five-week basketball camp for boys and girls in grades two through six. Led by former Sacramento State Basketball standout, Clark Woods, this camp is designed to strengthen the fundamental skills of the sport through fun drills and exercises. Participants will meet for five Fridays from July 16-Aug. 13 at the CSD gym at 6:45 p.m. (second and third grade) or 8:15 p.m. (fourth through sixth grader) for 90 minutes each session. This camp is designed to prepare players for the upcoming fall and winter basketball seasons. Camp numbers are limited so call early to reserve your spot. Registration fee is $125 with deadline to register being July 2 (or when full).
