The El Dorado Hills Community Services District has several offerings for youth and adults sports. Included in the following are some of those options. Youth Sports Dodgeball: Growing in popularity, this fast action sport works on hand-eye coordination, speed, agility and having fun. Children ages 7-12 are divided into teams and play multiple games throughout this camp on Friday evenings at the CSD gym (7-7:50 p.m.) for four weeks from June 18 to July 9. Fee is $55 and includes a camp T-shirt. Call 933-6624 before the registration deadline of June 11. U.K. International soccer camp (ages 4-16): Players are instructed by licensed U.K. coaches who have professional or semi-professional experience. Camp emphasizes the fundamental skills for ages 4-6, and progresses to a more challenging approach and technique for ages 7 and above. Pick from half day or full day camps during the weeks of June 21–25 or July 19–23. Children between the ages of 4-16 can register for the half-day camp, but must be 8 years or older to register for the full day camp. Cost is $120 for half day and $160 for the full day and held at the CSD North and South fields. Fee includes camp T-shirt, soccer ball and evaluation certificate for each child. EURO soccer camp (ages 5-15): Putting a Scottish twist to the soccer experience, this camp places participants into beginner, intermediate and advanced groups based on age and experience. Coaches share their skills and teaching abilities in the sport via fun yet enlightening drills and games. Children between the ages of 5-15 can register for one or both camps from July 6–9 or July 26–30. Registration fee is $120 for this half-day camp held at the CSD North and South fields. Receive a discount for the second camp if you register and attend both sessions. Youth volleyball camp: This camp is designed to teach boys and girls’ grades five through eight the fundamentals of volleyball. Participants ranging from beginners to advanced levels will begin with the basics and progressively work up to more challenging strategies and techniques to strengthen their game knowledge and skills. The instructor, Lisa Boyle, has over 20 years experience and is director of one of the Northern California’s largest and most respected clubs in Northern California. Cost for the camp is $75 per child and meets Monday through Thursday, June 21-24 from 9-11 a.m. at the Brooks Elementary School gym. Space is limited so don’t delay. Call 933-6624 to register before the deadline of June 11. Girls volleyball league: New to the EDHCSD offerings is our all girls volleyball league. Girls in grades five through eight will form two separate divisions (5/6 and 7/8) and compete for eight weeks in round-robin games. Teams of 10 girls will compete in 6-vs.-6 games and play on Tuesday evenings at the EDHCSD Gym from June 29 to Aug. 17. Space will be limited, so sign up early to assure your spot. Teams will be coached by volunteer parents so if interested please inform the registration desk as you sign up your child. Fee is $130 per participant. Peewee T-ball: Children ages 3-6 participate in this four-week camp from July 8-29 on Thursday afternoons at Promontory Community Park (small softball field). This camp teaches the basic concepts of the sport by demonstrating the correct method of throwing, catching and hitting. Parents can pick from three different times beginning at 4 p.m. for 3 years olds (parent participation required for this age group) or 5 and 6 p.m. for 4-6 year olds with the fee of $60 per child. Registration is limited, so sign-up early and receive a camp T-shirt before the deadline of July 2. Youth Basketball Camp: New this year is our five-week basketball camp for boys and girls in grades two through six. Led by former Sacramento State basketball standout, Clark Woods, this camp is designed to strengthen the fundamental skills of the sport through fun drills and exercises. Participants will meet for five Fridays from July 16 to August 13 at the CSD gym at 6:45 p.m. (2nd/3rd grade) or 8:15 p.m. (4th-6th graders) for 90 minutes each session. This camp is designed to prepare players for the upcoming fall and winter basketball seasons. Camp numbers are limited so call early to reserve your spot. Registration fee is $125 with deadline to register being July 2 (or when full). Youth Basketball: The fall season runs from Sept. 11 to Oct. 30. Games are played at the CSD gym on Saturday mornings with full-court games for grades third and higher. This league starts at kindergarten and goes up to sixth grade. Fee is $130 if uniform purchased, or $15 less if child already has an approved uniform from a previous season and also includes a trophy for each child. Deadline to register is July 30. NFL Flag Football: This popular league begins games on Sept. 11 and ends on Oct. 30. Games are played on the Promontory Community Park synthetic field in the early evenings and under the lights on Saturdays. Official NFL jerseys are included in the registration price along with a set of flags and trophy for each child. League is divided into 2nd/3rd grade, 4th/5th grade and 6th-8th grade divisions. Registration is limited so sign up before the league fills up. Call 933-6624 to register. Adult Sports Adult Flag Football: This “pass only” league plays games on Sunday afternoons at the Promontory Community Park Synthetic Field beginning Sept. 12 through Oct. 31. Teams play round-robin games with the top four teams advancing into the playoffs. Winning team earns championship T-shirts for their efforts. Registration fee is $500 per team with the deadline of Aug. 27 to sign up. Adult Coed Volleyball: This 6-on-6 league plays on Monday evenings at the CSD gym from Aug. 2 to Sept. 27. Teams play rally scoring type games with the top four teams advancing to the playoffs. Fee is $225 per team with the deadline to register being July 23. Adult Coed Soccer: Our 7-on-7 league plays on Wednesday nights at Promontory Community Park from July 14 until Sept. 15. If enough teams register, upper and lower divisions will be formed with the top four teams in each division advancing to the playoffs the final week of the season. Registration fee is $850 per team with deadline for signing up being July 2.
