CAMERON PARK, CA – It was official Thursday night, the El Dorado County Food Bank cut the ribbon on its new administrative location with about 100 in attendance.

The Food Bank of El Dorado feeds over 10,000 people each month in El Dorado County. The new office location, on Coach Lane near the Food 4 Less, was donated by Wells Fargo Bank.

Food Bank officials, Wells Fargo members, political figures and several members of the community were on hand for the event.

El Dorado County Sheriff John D’Agostini said before the ribbon cutting ceremony that food banks are a blessing to the community.

“Anywhere we can have a food bank is important,” he said. “They do a lot for the community.”

Ray Nutting, El Dorado County Supervisor District 2, was on hand for the ribbon cutting ceremony Thursday night.

“I don’t know what these folks would do without the food bank,” he said. “This takes a phenomenal amount of volunteers to pull together to bring this all together.”

Wells Fargo & Company recently donated a vacant facility at 3291 Coach Lane in Cameron Park to the Food Bank of El Dorado County.

“Many families rely on the Food Bank of El Dorado County each month to feed their families and that is why investing in this organization will ensure that crucial services continue for the people in our communities,” said Kevin Barri, president of Wells Fargo’s Community Foothills Market. “Wells Fargo understands that families are struggling during these tough economic times. We hope that by donating our location for the next four years we are helping to strengthen and support our community.”

Michael Sproull, executive director for the El Dorado County Food Bank, kept his comments brief at the opening ceremony.

“This is about the food bank and what we are accomplishing,” he said. “With (Wells Fargo) we can now feed more people in El Dorado County.”

The Cameron Park location is for administrative purposes and is a place where food donations can be received and volunteers can register.

The Food Bank of El Dorado County is dedicated to making its new Cameron Park office a resource to the community, Sproull said.

The facility will provide community information and volunteer opportunities.

“I have watched and worked with Wells Fargo for many years and they are dedicated to the charity’s mission and accomplishments,” Sproull said. “In turn for their support, we give them an impressive five to one return on their donation. Business is simple and we run the Food Bank of El Dorado County like a business.”
