El Dorado Country athletes excel at Pacific Invite Rowing Regatta

El Dorado County athletes rowing with Capital Crew dominated the Pacific Invite Rowing Regatta held March 2 on Lake Merced.

The athletes accounted for 14 gold medals, three silver medals and one bronze in the Pacific Invite Rowing Regatta, which kicks off the spring racing season.

Capital Crew won gold medals in the women’s varsity 8+, men’s varsity 8+, women’s lightweight 8+, men’s lightweight 8+, women’s freshmen 8+, men’s varsity 4+, women’s lightweight 4+, men’s JV8+, women’s novice “A”8+, women’s novice “B”8+, women’s novice “C” 8+, women’s novice “A” 4+, women’s novice quad and men’s novice “B” 8+.

In most of these boats, nearly all of the athletes reside in El Dorado Hills, except for three from Cameron Park and one from Shingle Springs.

In the women’s varsity 8+ boat, five were from El Dorado Hills including Hannah Gasser, Kelly Hulsing, Sophie Kershaw, Ashley Patterson and Maile Seto. In the men’s varsity 8+ boat, two athletes, Joseph Palmer and Tyler Valicenti are from El Dorado Hills.

Following are the gold medal winning teams with El Dorado County athletes competing. Athletes are from El Dorado Hills, unless noted. Women’s lightweight 8+ - Ciera Dulgar, Hannah Gasser, Mary Molitor, Kiana Seto. Men’s lightweight 8+ - Daniel McNamara, Andrew Montoya and Aaron Rothleder. Women’s freshman 8+ - Zoe Fleming-Mullins (coxswain), Madison Driscoll, Grace Guimont, Meredith Sierra, Shelby Johnson and Arianna Thomas (Cameron Park). Men’s varsity 4+ - Joseph Palmer and Tyler Valicenti. Women’s lightweight 4+ - Mary Molitor, Maile Seto and Sophie Kershaw. Men’s JV 8+ - Christopher Graff and Austin Keefer. Women’s novice “A” 8+ - Gabriella Costamagna, Shelby Johnson and Brittany Owen (Cameron Park). Women’s novice “B” 8+ - Stephanie Rolf, Isabelle Moes (Shingle Springs) and Arianna Thomas (Cameron Park). Women’s novice “C” 8+ - Madison Driscoll, Micaela Bruner, Brooke Gibboney and Meredith Sierra. Women’s novice “A” 4+ - Brittany Owen (Cameron Park). Women’s novice quad – Gabrielle Costamagna and Shelby Johnson. Men’s novice “B” 8+ - Cody Fendley, Elliot Kirk, Timothy Wilson and Jared Yi.

Silver medalists include – Men’s novice “A” 8+ - Alex Scott, Mika Valencia and Ben Beijer (Cameron Park). Men’s novice “A” 4+ - Timothy Wilson and Ben Beijer (Cameron Park). Men’s novice quad – Alex Scott.

Bronze medalists include – Women’s varsity 4+ - Karly Dougherty, Kelly Hulsing and Ashley Patterson.
