Editor's View: Get ready to vote, election season is hereBy: Don Chaddock, Telegraph Managing Editor
Where will you find me this Saturday? It’s election season, so I’ll be firmly planted in the Sacramento County Board of Supervisors chambers for the televised forum for the Folsom City Council race. This will be my third time acting as one of the panelists for the forum hosted by the League of Women Voters. You can catch it airing on Sac Metro Cable (the same channel on which you watch the Folsom City Council meetings). It will air frequently, as we all know. There are three who’ve tossed their hats in the ring for two seats — veteran Councilman Jeff Starsky, Councilman Ernie Sheldon and challenger Roger Gaylord. I introduced the candidates to our readers in last week’s Telegraph, asking each the same questions to allow them to make their cases for your vote. That’s something in which I take pride — I don’t put spin on stories. All three bring something to the table —?Ernie’s passion for public employees and his ability to rally the youth in this town; Jeff’s institutional knowledge and experience to help Folsom weather the bumpy economic years; and Roger’s strategy to form citizen action committees to get residents actively involved in city operations. The choices couldn’t be more clear. As for me, I’m staying out of it. You won’t find endorsements this go-round with only three candidates on the ballot. What’s online If you’ve missed it lately, my online weight loss column, The Saturday Skinny, tracks my own loss (totaling 112 pounds to date) and gives diet and exercise tips for those seeking such information. My latest installment looks at free apps for your smart phone.
