Four El Dorado Hills youth have been selected to play in the state soccer Olympic Development Program. David Burns, Connor Hountalas, Alec Hester, all 13, and Joel Hoversten, 12, will represent El Dorado Hills on the state teams, Burns and Hountalas on the ’97 team and Hester and Hoversten on the ’98 team. Hoversten and Hester attend sixth and seventh grade, respectively, at Rolling Hills Middle School, while Hountalas is a seventh grader at Marina Middle School. Burns is a seventh grader at Smith Flat Charter School in Shingle Springs. On the soccer field, Burns, Hountalas and Hester all play for the San Juan Lightning ’98 blue team; Burns and Hester at center midfield and Hountalas in goal. Hoversten is also a goalie. The players began training with their respective ODP teams last weekend. They will play with them for a year, with the top players from each team moving on to regional ODP teams and the best of the best advancing to the national team, which is the ultimate goal.
