DEA hits three suspected pot-growing houses in EDC
By: Roger Phelps, The Telegraph
Linked drug raids in El Dorado County today broke up sophisticated indoor marijuana-growing operations. Federal agents struck in El Dorado Hills at 349 Arches Ave., in Cameron Park at 3447 Woodleigh Lane and in Placerville at 888 Maria Vista Way. Arrested in El Dorado Hills was Cuong The Le, 39 of Sacramento. In Placerville, agents arrested Wan Fang Fu, 27, and Minh Vinh Le, 31, both of Sacramento. "It is believed to be a family-based organization," said Special Agent Gordon Taylor, in charge of the Sacramento Drug Enforcement Administration office. Taylor noted that the Arches Avenue property in El Dorado Hills abuts the campus of William Brooks Elementary School. Simultaneous raids occurred in Sacramento and Placer counties, also breaking up indoor growing operations. According to authorities, all of these properties probably are linked to operations the DEA found in Auburn and in Foresthill during August and September 2007. In the El Dorado County raids, agents discovered evident efforts by suspects to make above-ground floors of the houses appear lived-in -- with growing operations in basements -- and to pass themselves off to neighbors as typical residents. Taylor said agents are still at work, but that the DEA does not expect any more arrests to come today.
