A Shingle Springs man pleaded guilty last week to possession of child pornography and now faces up to 10 years in prison. Jeffery Rogers, 60, entered the plea before U.S. District Court Judge John Mendez Nov. 9, admitting that he possessed more than 1,000 images and more than 200 videos depicting children engaged in sexually explicit conduct, according to Lauren Horwood of the Department of Justice. According to court documents, Rogers had been collecting child pornography after he received his first computer 30 years ago. Many of the images and videos he possessed depicted known and previously identified children whose abuse images were produced outside California, in places such as Washington state, Georgia, Indiana, Pennsylvania and several foreign countries, Horwood said. Rogers is scheduled to be sentenced Jan. 25 and faces a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison, a $250,000 fine, and a life term of supervised release. ~ Penne Usher
