Chicken sandwiches draw large crowd in Folsom

Hundreds wait in line overnight for grand opening of Chick-fil-A
Folsom?s first Chick-fil-A restaurant opened last week with hundreds of hungry people. The first 100 people in line at the new restaurant on Wednesday, June 27, won a free year?s supply of Chick-fil-A. Fans of the chicken restaurant traveled from L.A., Orange County and other locations to win the year?s supply. ?We are so excited to be here in Folsom,? said Franchised Chick-fil-A Operator Matt Crane, who will operate the new stand-alone restaurant in Folsom. ?This is a real family town and we look forward to serving you for years to come.? Many came out for the grand opening event on Thursday, June 28, also. Gary Rider came with his daughter Hannah, both of El Dorado Hills. ?I?m so excited to have a Chick-fil-A so close to us now,? Hannah said. Gary Sanders, superintendent general contractor with Landmark General Contractors, built the new Folsom store. ?I love the chicken sandwiches,? Sanders said. ?I couldn?t wait to finish the job, so I could get in here and eat.? The new Folsom restaurant will create 60 new jobs for the region and feature the chain?s latest interior and kitchen design along with dual drive-thru ordering lanes, Crane said. The Folsom restaurant is the chain?s fourth stand-alone location in the greater Sacramento area, joining restaurants in Elk Grove, Roseville and Sacramento. The company originally began in 1967 in Atlanta. ?We are thrilled to follow up a very exciting 2011 where we saw the opening of our 1,000th stand-alone restaurant with continued growth across the country this year,? said Dan T. Cathy, president and chief operations officer, Chick-fil-A, Inc. ?Our outstanding franchised Operators and their team members provide both the freshly prepared food and excellent service on both sides of the counter that has our customers asking us to bring Chick-fil-A closer to where they live.? According to Crane, founder Truett Cathy perfected his recipe for a boneless breast-of-chicken sandwich while operating the Dwarf Grill, which he opened in Hapeville, Ga., in 1946. The sandwich became the signature menu item when he opened the first Chick-fil-A, and it continues to be the hallmark product of the chain as it has grown to 1,635 restaurants in 39 states and Washington, D.C. ?Chick-fil-A has come a long way since Truett opened that first tiny Chick-fil-A restaurant in an Atlanta mall 45 years ago, but one thing has remained constant ? our focus on providing top quality food in a friendly neighborhood environment,? said Crane. ?My team members and I share that same commitment at our new restaurant and can?t wait to welcome and serve our new guests.? The new restaurant seats 104 with additional outdoor seating and is open Monday through Saturday from 6:30 a.m. to 10 p.m., serving a full breakfast menu until 10:30 a.m. For more information on the new Folsom Chick-fil-A, visit chick-fil-a.com/folsom or follow them on Facebook at Chick-fil-A at Folsom.
