The second Telegraph Best of the Best party brought in more than 200 people celebrating local business winners. The community voted on the best businesses in the region in 144 categories and winners were given certificates and applauded for their excellence Aug. 4 at FLB Sports Bar and Casino and Folsom Lake Bowl Family Fun Center. “The Folsom and El Dorado Hills Telegraph newspapers are proud of the numerous ‘Best’ businesses in our communities,” said Ken Larson, Telegraph publisher. “The wonderful turnout of winners and community people at the party is a strong testament how wonderful this community is to live and work in.” Shirley Nagasawa is the owner of Icing on the Cupcake on East Bidwell in Folsom and the winner of Best Cupcake. “We just opened our Folsom branch in July 2010, so we are happy to be here,” Nagasawa said. “This party is so much fun. We are happy to be voted the best of the best. We take pride in our product and maintain a high standard.” Jill Cromwell, owner of Maribou Salon on Sutter Street and Blue Ravine Road, won for best hair salon. “I’m very excited and honored to be voted best of best,” Cromwell said. “The party was a great idea. There are a lot of great people to network with.” Karen Holmes, owner and chef of Karen’s Bakery Café and Catering in the Historic District, won for best bakery, best catering and best place to enjoy lunch. “This is wonderful,” Holmes said. “I had no idea what to expect coming into the celebration. But, this is wonderful — what a great party.” The party host, FLB Sports Bar and Casino and Folsom Lake Bowl Family Fun Center on East Bidwell Street, also won multiple categories.
