Accident, gas leak cause havoc in historic FolsomBy: Laura Newell, Telegraph staff writer
Two separate incidents last week snarled traffic in Folsom’s historic district. A motorcyclist was injured after a head-on collision on Folsom’s Rainbow Bridge on Aug. 22. At least three fire engines, an ambulance and five Folsom police cruisers were at the scene. Folsom Police Department officials said the driver of a small compact vehicle traveling southbound on Greenback Lane failed to negotiate the turn onto the bridge, crossed the double yellow line, and struck a motorcycle. The motorcyclist suffered moderate injuries and was transported to an area hospital. The driver of the car was uninjured, officials said. The bridge was closed for two hours. PG&E evacuated part the historic district around Sutter Street to repair a gas leak on Aug. 23. There were no reported injuries. The street was reopened the following morning.
