Aboukhadijeh finishes first in 10K run in Auburn
By: Staff Report
The first day of 2012 brought out a large group of motivated runners to participate in the 12th annual Resolution Run in Auburn. Hundreds of individuals took their marks, got set and were off to conquer the hilly routes through the beautiful American River Canyon Overlook Park on New Year's Day. Most courses in the Sacramento area are flat road races which allow for very fast times but this was the opposite. With 75 percent of the course being run over hills, competitors were given constant challenges along the way. Oak Ridge High School alum Amjed Aboukhadijeh, 19, who currently runs for UCLA, won the 10K event by more than four minutes with a time of 40 minutes, 11.7 seconds.
